These tonna olearium shells, or tonna galea, tun seashells are 4 inch to 4-7/8 inch in length. Tun shells are brown in color and very light weight shells that are perfect for hermit crab homes. Tonna olearium seashells are also used in many shellcraft projects. Our shells are commercial grade and sold in bulk.  The bags of shells may contain some with chipped edges and natural blemishes.  Tonna galea, commonly known as the giant tun, is a species of marine gastropod mollusk in the family Tonnidae  known as the tun shells. This very large sea snail or tun snail is found in the North Atlantic Ocean as far as the coast of West Africa, in the Mediterraqnean Sea and the Caribbean Sea.
