Product Details
Polished green abalone seashells, Haliotis fulgens,  measuring approximately 5 inches to 5-1/2 inches long have a highly iridescent inner layer of the shell of abalone that has traditionally been used as a decorative item in jewelry,  These polished green abalones have a rainbow of colors from deep blues to greens with undertones of silvers and mother of pearl.  Polished green abalone shells are used in making buttons, and as inlay in furniture, knife handles, and in musical instruments such as guitars, etc. The  polished green abalone shell is also sold for seashell decorating and used in shell crafts and making inlaid knife handles, tables and jewelry. Abalone is a marine snail commonly called ear shell, sea ear, and ormer. Abalones live in warm areas of the Pacific Ocean, in the Indian Ocean, and on Europe's coasts. There are about 100 species of abalones. The most common North American species are the black abalone, the green abalone, and the red abalone. They are found along the coast of California and Oregon. The abalone is harvested for its shell and edible foot from the ocean and from commercial farms that specialize in growing abalones. Abalones belong to the family Haliotidae.
