Real Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris) full mount with base measuring approximately 12-1/2 inches tall and 17 inches long and 8-1/2 inches wide.   This South African Helmeted Guineafowl bird was professionally mounted by a South African taxidermist. It is a Real helmeted guineafowl bird - Not a Replica.   It was cleared for legal entry into the U.S by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and U.S. Customs. 


The helmeted guineafowl is the best known of the guineafowl bird family, Numididae, and the only member of the genus numida.  It is a native to Africa.  The helmeted guineafowl is a large 21 to 23 inch bird with a round body and small head.  They weigh about 2.9 pounds.  The body plumage is gray-black spangles with white.  Like other guineafowl, this species has an unfeathered head.  In this species it is decorated with a dull yellow or reddish bony knob, and bare skin with red, blue or black hues.  Their diet consists of a variety of animal and plant food; seeds, fruits, greens, snails, spiders, worms and insects, frogs, lizards, small snakes and small mammals.
